Summer’s Fleeting

Summer’s a lady in marigold dresses
Summer’s a playmate with loose fluffy tresses
Summer’s a heat wave; it sunburns your nose
Summer’s hot beach sand on pink and brown toes
Summer’s a tumble in newly-mowed lawn
Summer’s a hot wind just drifting along
Summer’s a rainbow, the prism of showers
Summer’s a paintbox to colour the flowers
Summer’s a heaven of many-shade blues
Summer’s the smoke puffs above barbeques
Summer’s a chorus of bird songs at dawn
How sad we are when summer is gone!
